Sustainability
Our Commitment to Sustainability
At CFS, “working greener” means working smarter — a philosophy that drives both sustainability and cost savings through a commitment to circular economy principles. We’ve implemented timers, motion sensors, and high-efficiency lighting and plumbing throughout our facility, leading to significant reductions in electricity and water use.
Also, we partner with companies like Miller Recycling and Shred-it, who recycle our scrapped paper and corrugated cartons to be produced back into useful recycled products. We take pride in recycling other items such as print toner cartridges and outdated technology equipment. Recognizing the waste challenges inherent to our industry, we conducted a comprehensive waste analysis, cutting weekly waste by 50% and doubling our recycling rates.
Our approach extends to recycling practices rooted in circularity. CFS reuses and repurposes essential items, like packaging, cartons, and other products to prevent excess waste. When disposal is necessary, we make every effort to repurpose materials by disassembling unwanted displays into recyclable components — such as metal, acrylic, plastic, and wood. This mindful sorting ensures these materials can re-enter the production cycle, reducing resource extraction and waste.
Circularity also guides our efforts to minimize the corporate carbon footprint, for CFS and our clients. Rather than simply discarding surplus inventory, we focus on extending its life within the community. We’ve donated pallets of household appliances to local charities and redirected premium items, such as shoes, clothing, and blankets, to homeless shelters. By giving these items a second life, we not only reduce waste but contribute positively to those in need.
Our clients appreciate the savings passed on through these practices, and our recipients benefit from meaningful donations. At CFS, sustainability isn’t just a commitment — it’s an opportunity to build a more circular and connected economy, benefiting the environment, our business, and the communities we serve.
Our Yearly Audit captures the essence of our circular thinking when it comes to our waste. In fact, 78% of our total waste is properly recycled and repurposed.
